"eXtra" ranked 1st for the second consecutive year in retail industry

Al-Khobar, January 2011: United Electronic Company “eXtra”, has been ranked first for the second consecutive year in the list of retailers based on annual growth rate of sales for the period from 2007 to 2009 during the events of the fifth Global Competitiveness Forum, which was held in Riyadh last Monday. It is worth mentioning that “eXtra” has achieved a growth rate of 201 percent from the year 2005 to year 2010, which represents three times of its position in 2005.
Abdullah Abdullatif Al Fozan, chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Electronic Company “eXtra” expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the General Authority for Investment and highly appreciated its prompt efforts to raise awareness on the local and global competitive challenges, to upgrade the performance and productivity of the companies and enhance their role in the national development through the development of human resources, creativity and innovation stimulation.
Whereas, Mohammed Galal, United electronic company’s “eXtra” Chief Executive Officer, said that: “eXtra” is considered the first company specialized in retail sales of electronic and household appliances stating that it has ably managed, after the help of God, to get the largest share of the electronics’ market and home appliances Saudi Arabia to become the leader in this sector, the volume of which amounts to more than 19 billion Riyals may reach up to 22 billion Riyals according to studies.
Galal said further that “eXtra”, thankfully, has the largest share of the Saudi Electronics retail market, this reflects the extent of great respect and trust conceived by consumers towards ” eXtra “, today we renew the promise to continue to provide our clients with value-added, and be up to the level of their expectations, supported by our partners of the global brands that have succeeded in gaining the confidence of the local market.
Mohammad Galal Said that ” eXtra ” is preparing today the most famous electronics’ stores in the Kingdom with a network of 17 branches: 6 of which are in Riyadh, 2 in Jeddah, one branch in each of Mecca and Medina, Al-Khobar, Dammam, Ahsa, Qassim, Taif, Abaha and Tabuk. The number of its customers is around 8 million shoppers by the end of last year, 2010, where “Extra” covers 65% of the Kingdom’s population and represents more than 80% of the purchasing power in the Kingdom.
Mohammed Galal said further that the leadership of the United Electronic Company to the fastest growing Saudi firms in the retail sector for the second time consecutively, should have been achieved without the presence of key factors that contributed to this success, on top of which comes the clear vision and deep understanding of the requirements, needs of Saudi families and provision of all kinds of consumers needs and the company team work with great determination on leadership, creativity and achievement.
On his part, Usama Bukhari, director general of marketing in the company, indicated that the company’s strategies represented in supporting its customers with support services such as the extended warranty, computer services through its product ” computer’s special forces,” my mobile service, free home delivery service and others is what has helped in gaining customer satisfaction and realizing such achievement, the company had been included among the top 100 companies that have contributed to the employment of Saudis in 2010, recently declared by the Human Resources Development Fund “HDF” recently.
